Meet Jeremy Gries, spending his RUOP summer at the Red Lodge Clinic in Red Lodge, Montana! Jeremy's path to medicine started with his mother, an Army physician, whose stories from deployment showed him the hope that compassionate care can bring to patients enduring the unimaginable. A high school shadowing experience with a Sports Medicine physician and a real-time ultrasound diagnosis on the sidelines of a soccer game sealed the deal. This summer, Jeremy is focused on learning what primary care looks like in a rural community: managing complex cases with limited resources, knowing when to treat locally versus refer or evacuate, and building trust with patients who may have historical reservations about outside medical institutions. As an Army HPSP student, Jeremy plans to become a Family Medicine physician serving active-duty soldiers, their families, and veterans and hopes to eventually return to the Northwest to care for his local community. Outside of medicine, you'll find him running, strength training, playing basketball, or spending time with friends and family. Welcome to Red Lodge, Jeremy!
