We are proud to announce Clayborn Benson, two‑time #UWM alum, Wisconsin historian, photographer and military veteran, will be the commencement speaker and honorary degree recipient at the #UWMGrad ceremony on May 17! Benson has built two extraordinary careers. He spent 39 years as an award‑winning broadcast journalist at WTMJ‑TV, earning a reputation for excellence in storytelling across news and sports. In 1987, he founded the Wisconsin Black Historical Society Museum, creating a vital institution dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing Black history while serving as a neighborhood anchor and community resource. His many honors include the City of Milwaukee Living Legacy Award, Milwaukee Press Club Hall of Fame Award, Emmy Silver Circle Award and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Alumni Association Lifetime Achievement Award. We are honored to celebrate Benson and the lasting impact of his work on journalism, history and the #Milwaukee community. Read more at the link in the comments!
