Joshua Gazzetta, DO has been awarded a Small Data Analytics Award through UVA’s Data Analytics Center for his project, "Improving Access to Timely Gallbladder Surgery Using Data-Driven Care Pathways." Dr. Gazzetta’s team is developing a predictive model to identify patients at risk for relapse and biliary complications following emergency department visits for symptomatic gallbladder disease. Using a mixed-methods approach, the project aims to define key predictors of short-interval complications and create a risk-stratified ED-to-surgery care pathway to improve timely access to surgery and patient outcomes.
