The University of Virginia recently hosted its inaugural Focused Ultrasound Innovation Summit, bringing together researchers, clinicians, industry leaders, and patients to explore the growing impact of focused ultrasound and its potential to transform the future of medicine. As the world's first designated Focused Ultrasound Center of Excellence, UVA has played a leading role in advancing this non-invasive technology and expanding its applications in patient care, from movement disorders and cancer therapies to emerging research opportunities. One highlight of the summit was a patient panel featuring WNBA Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist Pamela McGee, who shared her experience receiving focused ultrasound treatment at UVA and spoke about the importance of patient advocacy and awareness. The event also featured lectures and panel discussions highlighting the latest advances in focused ultrasound research, clinical care, and innovation.
