In April, the UvA Green Office collaborated with the Solidarity Network for Cuba NL to host a reading group and discussion on Cuban Agroecology! To prepare for the lecture, we hosted a reading group to dive into the contents of “The Campesino-to-Campesino agroecology movement of ANAP in Cuba: social process methodology in the construction of sustainable peasant agriculture and food sovereignty.” The following lecture, “Cultivating Socialism and Sovereignty," heard from speakers including Levin Dalpiaz (Wageningen University student), Anuka de Silva (La Via Campesina), Margarita F. (Caribbean Agroecology Institute), and members of ANAP (Asociación Nacional de Agricultores Pequeños). Additionally, we received two video messages shared by Martha González Jorge, who has led the transition of her family farm to an agroecological one, and Beatriz Navarro Fernández, the head of the international relations department of the ANAP.
