Civil engineering third- and fourth-year students in Prof. T. Donna Chen, P.E. and TA Leon Yacoubian's CE3402 (Transportation Infrastructure Design Workshop) worked on a semester-long design project to develop a concept plan to improve pedestrian and bicyclist connectivity and safety in downtown Colonial Beach, Virginia. On April 24, students visited Colonial Beach and met with the Town Manager, Natasha Tucker, the Executive Director of the Downtown Colonial Beach Nonprofit Alliance, and Chris Bruch, Board Member of the Colonial Beach Community Foundation. Learning about the history and the community of the beach town is helping the students develop final designs that specifically cater to the needs of the area.
