When it comes to cancer research, UT Southwestern Biomedical Engineering Associate Professor Kareem Azab, Ph.D., is charting new paths. His translational research program focuses on understanding and overcoming therapy resistance in cancer through innovative approaches, including nanomedicine, immunotherapy, and strategies that target the tumor microenvironment. That work has earned national recognition. Dr. Azab was recently named an Emerging Leader in Health and Medicine Scholar by the National Academy of Medicine. He is also a CPRIT Rising Star Scholar in Cancer Research and a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors. By developing more precise, targeted immunotherapies, Dr. Azab hopes to improve outcomes for patients and help transform the future of cancer treatment.
