Professor and Director Center for Integrative Biology, Universidad Mayor, Santiago, Chile
š š š We are thrilled to share extraordinary news for Latin American science and for our community at the Center for Integrative Biology (CIB), Universidad Mayor. Prof. Roberto Mayor has been elected Fellow of the Royal Society - the UK's national academy of sciences and one of the most prestigious scientific institutions in the world - in recognition of his outstanding contributions to developmental and cellular neurobiology. Born in Chile and currently Professor at University College London (UCL), Roberto stands as a beacon of Latin American scientific excellence on the global stage. š This distinction joins an already remarkable constellation of honors: Roberto is a member of EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization), an International Scholar of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), and a member of the Latin American Academy of Sciences (ACAL). He is also the founder and first president-elect of the Latin American Society of Developmental Biology (LASDB), an institution he helped build to strengthen science across our region. ⨠⨠⨠This achievement fills us with immense pride at the CIB, where Roberto is part of our community as an affiliated researcher. His generosity and deep commitment to Chile's scientific future are evident every time he shares his knowledge and experience with our young investigators at any level of their career helping to shape the next generation of world-class Chilean scientists. š As highlighted in a recent article in El Mercurio, this distinction is a landmark moment for Chilean science and a cause for celebration for all who believe in nurturing local talent with global impact. š š Congratulations, Roberto! š š #RoyalSociety #EMBO #ChileanScience #CIB #UniversidadMayor #DevelopmentalBiology #Mentorship #LatinAmericanScience
