At 1856, the world was on the brink of an electrical revolution driven by Nikola Tesla. His pioneering work with rotating magnetic fields and alternating current serves as the foundation for the sophisticated grid engineering that distinguishes Chattanooga as a leader in connectivity. ⚡ We bridge the gap between historical innovation and future workforce development by challenging our students to apply electromagnetism to aerospace scenarios. Understanding these fundamental forces is a requirement for any aspiring systems engineer. To replicate the basic mechanics of an electromagnet in your own lab space: 1. Secure an iron nail and a length of insulated copper wire. 2. Coil the wire uniformly around the nail to create a concentrated magnetic path. 3. Attach the wire leads to a DC battery source to activate the electromagnetic field. 4. Use the resulting magnetic force to observe how current creates a tangible physical reaction.
