This Father’s Day, we’re celebrating a story about family, service and the lasting influence of a father’s example. More than 30 years ago, Jon stepped outside his home in Seymour after hearing a crash on Boyd's Creek Road. What he saw next changed his life. A helicopter landed nearby to transport an injured driver, and Jon had never seen anything like it. "I said right then, that's something I want to be a part of." The next morning, he applied to the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department and began a career in emergency services that would span more than two decades. Today, that moment has come full circle. Jon's sons, Brandon and Brody now serve with UT Medical's UT LIFESTAR air and ground transport team helping bring life-saving critical care to patients across East Tennessee and bringing them to the region's Level I Trauma Center. Brody is a critical care paramedic and shift supervisor at UT LIFESTAR's Sevierville base. Brandon recently joined the their ground transport team, stepping outside his comfort zone as a full-time Sevierville firefighter to grow his skills as a paramedic. Some moments don't just change one life. They echo through a whole family. Read Jon's story and discover how one helicopter landing inspired a lifetime – and a legacy – of service.
