Step into USS CONSTITUTION’s world voyage through the eyes of Lt. John Blake Dale. Join us on Thursday, May 7, for a special open house at the USS Constitution Museum celebrating a remarkable new acquisition: 34 sketches created by Dale during the ship’s 1844–1846 voyage around the world. These vivid works offer a rare, firsthand view of the people, ports, and cultures USS CONSTITUTION encountered across Asia. Guests will also have a rare opportunity to view Dale’s journal, courtesy of a special collaboration with American Ancestors, adding his own words to the images on view. “The sun pound down its beams with a terrible intensity into this little cove; yet we could enjoy the picturesque beauty of the town - old grey walls and fresh green foliage - the union of European and Asiatic appearances, costumes, chinese with their basket-hats and long tails, Europeans in white jackets, and Parsees in their peculiar tall caps and snowy costumes.” Light hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. Be among the first to experience this extraordinary collection. Tickets: https://bit.ly/4cfZ6tw Credit: John B.
