Samuel Eames served as sailing master aboard CONSTITUTION from 1813 to 1814 under Captain Charles Stewart. As sailing master, Eames’s primary duty was to safely navigate the ship using instruments such as telescopes and sextants. He also kept time at sea and taught navigational skills to midshipmen.
