Graduate Research Assistantship in Entomology NMSU Entomology Graduate Research Assistantship at New Mexico State University (NMSU) Anticipated Start Date Fall 2026 (August) or Spring 2027 (January) Position Description The Bowers Lab at New Mexico State University seeks a highly motivated and qualified student wishing to pursue a graduate degree focusing on the biology, ecology, and management of economically important arthropods in specialty crops in New Mexico. Potential cropping systems include but are not limited to chile peppers, onions, and pecans. The successful candidate will develop a research project exploring both ecological questions (e.g., predator-prey interactions, food webs, trophic cascades, priority effects) and integrated pest management tools, including use of insecticides, trapping, and biological control. Location and Facilities The New Mexico State University Department of Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Weed Science is located in Las Cruces, NM. Primary research sites in Las Cruces include greenhouse, lab, and research farms Leyendecker Plant Science Center and Fabian Garcia Research Center. There are also potential collaborations with experiment station locations around the state.
