NEW ARTICLE PUBLISHED: McMaster iGEM x Shad at Mac Design Case Competition 2026: Expanding Blood Donor Eligibility with Synthetic Biology The McMaster iGEM x Shad at Mac Design Case Competition 2026 proudly presents its Abstract Book, featuring innovative solutions developed by undergraduate students at the intersection of synthetic biology, biotechnology, and public health. 🧬 This year's challenge focused on a critical issue in transfusion medicine: expanding blood donor eligibility. With approximately 7.1 million individuals currently excluded from donating blood due to existing eligibility criteria, participants were tasked with designing synthetic biology-based solutions to help increase the number of safe and eligible blood donors.
