What’s next for ‘Long Island’: preparatory works are set to start in end-2026 — an important step towards its timely completion as a critical coastal protection measure for our homes, infrastructure and people. Singapore’s East Coast is particularly vulnerable to sea level rise and has already experienced coastal flooding on several occasions. With rising sea levels and more intense rainfall, these occurrences will become more frequent, and the flood extend will be wider — making it important that we start coastal protection efforts early. Housing & Development Board has conducted an Environmental Study to ensure preparatory works are carried out sensitively.
