ON A PERSONAL NOTE We’ve known each other for most of our lives — growing up just a few kilometres apart in neighbouring Swiss villages and even attending the same secondary school. It wasn’t until years later, through mutual friends and our graphic design studies, that our paths crossed professionally. Since 2014, we — David Lüthi and Mirko Leuenberger — have worked together on a wide range of cultural and design projects. From the outset, our practice has always been collaborative, shaped by the many inspiring people we’ve had the privilege to work with. In 2018, a Swiss Design Awards nomination gave us the momentum to formally start a studio under our own names and establish a shared workspace in Zurich. In 2023, we became UPSET: a space driven by ideas, partnerships, and the people behind them. We tend to stay behind the scenes — which might explain why there are so few pictures of us. But after more than a decade of designing together, we felt it was time to reflect on this journey, share some moments, and show a broader selection of our work. https://upset.ch is online.
