From paper machines to Scottish accents (and seaside bike rides) What happens when a freshly graduated chemical engineer joins the UPM Graduate Program? For Tatu Skyttä, it’s meant hands-on learning in paper production, rotations across multiple mills, and even cycling to work along the Scottish coastline. 🚴♂️🌊 Since joining the UPM Graduate program in 2025, Tatu has worked at our Rauma and Jämsänkoski mills in Finland and is currently completing an international rotation at our Caledonian mill in Scotland. Along the way, he’s deepened his expertise in process engineering, learned from experienced colleagues across sites, built a strong network, and developed an understanding of the Scottish accent. Different sites, different countries, one major learning curve – and plenty of stories along the way.
