AI governance needs a shared evidence base. In July, the Preliminary Report of the UN Independent International Scientific Panel on AI will be released. Forty independent experts, selected from more than 2,600 applications across over 140 countries, spanning all five UN regions, will share independent evidence base on the opportunities, risks and impacts of AI. The Preliminary Report will inform the inaugural Global Dialogue on AI Governance, 6–7 July in Geneva, giving every government and stakeholder a common scientific starting point as AI moves faster than the systems built to govern it.
