They are building something new: a hydrofoiling boat powered by methanol, namedย Eclipse. It is a big step away from the solar boats the team was known for. But there is a clear reason behind it: shipping has a major emissions challenge, and Surge Twente wants to explore what role methanol could play in making the sector more sustainable. Just as important: they plan to share what they learn with partners, students and the maritime industry. Good luck at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge from 8 to 11 July.
