𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐓𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞 This week, Princess Margriet visited our ITC faculty for an update on the Data for Disaster Resilience chair, led by Professor Marc van den Homberg together with the Dutch Red Cross. The chair is all about using data and digital tools to help vulnerable communities get ahead of disasters. Think of floods and disease outbreaks. It bears her name and has her personal support, and her enthusiasm for the work was clear to see. One result stood out: students from ITC and TU Delft contributed to a trigger model that forms a key part of the world's first Early Action Protocol for cholera. It was developed in Cameroon, led by the Cameroon Red Cross Society and supported by the Netherlands Red Cross' data and digital team 510. As extreme weather puts more people at risk each year, this kind of research matters. It turns science into action, often before disaster even strikes.
