How can diversity become a source of strength for our communities, rather than division? This vital question was explored at this year’s Australian Red Cross Oration: Building Social Cohesion in a Multicultural Country. The Oration featured a panel discussion unpacking how communities, services and institutions can support new arrivals, while highlighting the power of lived experience, storytelling, arts and cultural exchange to build trust and strengthen connections. As migration to Tasmania continues to grow at a time of increasing global uncertainty, building inclusive and welcoming communities is more important than ever.
