A major transformation is underway at our University, one that reaches far beyond technology. It began with a staff member simply trying to have their name and gender recognised correctly across university systems. When Ash Russell (pictured right) first transitioned, they encountered a reality many trans and gender‑diverse people know too well: outdated systems that couldn’t keep up with who they truly were. Rather than accepting the situation, Ash partnered with early champions Jacinta Vanderfeen (in memoriam) and later Paula Johnson to elevate the issue.
