A new Nature study by the AION collaboration, including Oxford physicists, marks a major advance for large-scale quantum sensors. By successfully demonstrating a laser noise-cancellation method in a prototype atom interferometer, the team proved that quantum sensors can operate effectively under real-world conditions. This experimental validation resolves a key design challenge, paving the way for next-generation detectors to probe dark matter, dark energy, and gravitational waves.
