The ninth annual Omenn Lecture was standing-room only for Aviv Regev, PhD, EVP of Genentech Research and Early Development, who gave a talk on how AI is helping researchers decode massive datasets to understand better and treat complex diseases. After the lecture, 46 researchers from across four U-M units presented posters on deep learning applications in areas like diabetes and cancer research. The Omenn Lecture series honors Gilbert S. Omenn, MD, PhD, who is the Harold T. Shapiro Distinguished University Professor in Computational Medicine & Bioinformatics, and a professor in Internal Medicine, Human Genetics, and Environmental Health.
