"Medicine is not only about treating disease. It is about supporting people throughout their entire journey." Through Cancer to 5K, a free program led by the Ulman Foundation, University of Michigan Medical School students connect with adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors outside of the clinic, building relationships while training together toward a shared goal. Their 2026 training season recently kicked off, bringing survivors, loved ones and medical student volunteers together for weekly workouts and connection-building.
