The Point Nepean Research and Education Field Station is a partnership between the University of Melbourne and Monash University, in collaboration with Traditional Owners and the Australian Government, to advance research, education and community engagement. UniMelb Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Mark Cassidy AM and Monash Provost and Senior Vice-President Professor Tim Dunne joined Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation Traditional Elder Aunty Sonia Weston and Member for Flinders Zoe McKenzie MP for a construction commencement ceremony at the future site of the Point Nepean Research and Education Field Station today. The ceremony, in the Point Nepean National Park, reflects the deep respect for the site’s cultural significance, central to every stage of the project's development. The Point Nepean Research and Education Field Station project reflects a shared commitment to embedding Indigenous knowledges into research, education and community engagement across coastal environments, climate, culture and history. Construction will commence this month, with the facility expected to be operational by 2028 → https://unimelb.me/4t8kSWv
