UniMelb Professor Ian young from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology is a lead author on a major study that analysed 300 drifting ocean buoys to gain a detailed understanding of how Antarctic storms trigger global wave patterns. “We tend to think that waves are generated by wind in the surrounding environment.
