Meghann Houck, MD, a clinical assistant professor in the UICOMR Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties, received the Distinguished Teaching Award during the Convocation Ceremony on Friday, April 24, 2026. The Distinguished Teaching Award is presented each year to a faculty member who has demonstrated a longstanding history of outstanding interest in our medical students and a strong commitment to medical education. Dr. Houck is a Rockford native, a graduate of Rush Medical College, and completed residencies in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Missouri. As a hospitalist at Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital, she teaches third- and fourth-year students and serves as site director for the Internal Medicine Clerkship. Dr. Houck is a role model for medical educators and is most deserving of this award.
