The sweetest science… These incredible images give a glimpse behind the scenes of Dr Nasir Uddin’s pioneering research into concussion and MMA. Dr Uddin, of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Science University of Essex is working with the champion competitors at Colchester’s Combat Institute to make sparring safer. Using high-tech mouthguards, Dr Uddin monitors impacts in training and hopes his findings will help fighters around the world – whether they train for fitness or pros going for championship glory.
