From shaping skylines to inspiring future architects - congratulations to Professor Tony Fretton OBE, Tony Fretton Architects. Professor Tony Fretton, who has taught in the UEL School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering at the University of East London since 2013, has been awarded an OBE in The King’s Birthday Honours 2026 for services to architecture. Professor Fretton, one of the UK’s most respected architects and educators, has helped shape cities, cultural institutions and communities across Europe. His projects include the British Embassy Warsaw, the Fuglsang Art Museum in Denmark and London's renowned Lisson Gallery, alongside a series of acclaimed residential developments in the UK and the Netherlands. 🏙️ Alongside an architectural career spanning more than four decades, Professor Fretton has remained committed to teaching and mentoring future generations of architects. In addition to his role at UEL, he has held professorial and visiting positions at leading institutions around the world, including Delft University of Technology, Harvard University and ETH Zurich. This recognition celebrates an outstanding contribution to architecture, education and the built environment, and reflects the impact of a career dedicated to both professional practice and the development of future talent.
