Research at the University of East London is helping shape the future of children's online safety. We're proud to announce that Julia Davidson OBE has been appointed to the UK Government's Expert Panel for Growing up in an Online World, recognising UEL's leadership in evidence-based research on child online safety, cybercrime and digital wellbeing. As Director of UEL's Institute for Connected Communities and founder of the Child Online Harms Policy Think Tank, Professor Davidson has spent more than two decades working with governments, regulators, law enforcement and international organisations to tackle online harms and ensure children can benefit from technology safely. Convened by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, the panel will advise ministers on the impacts of social media, gaming and AI, helping shape future policy and research priorities. This appointment reflects UEL's commitment to research with real-world impact bringing together world-leading expertise to influence national policy and create safer digital futures for children and young people.
