With Universities UK setting a major ambition today to secure a £100bn doubling of external investment into UK innovation by 2035, the sector's focus is firmly on how higher education can better scale innovative businesses and back the industries of tomorrow. The answer lies in total integration with industry combining world class academic talent with a powerful, regional ecosystem for innovation. Reflecting on our Universities UK Future Jobs forum hosted at our Docklands Campus, the consensus among industry leaders was clear: preparing the next generation of talent and scaling student led enterprise is a shared responsibility. As Cherise Basslian, our Director of Careers & Student Enterprise, highlights, universities need ongoing industry insights to inform what is happening on the ground, and employers need enterprising graduates who can deliver value from day one. At UEL, this careers first and enterprise driven approach has helped us secure the 2nd highest ranking in the UK for annual student start ups, alongside record breaking graduate outcome improvements. We know firsthand that university backed startups and spinouts are vital to driving economic growth in every region. The insights captured during our roundtable are helping to shape the national UUK Future Jobs Roadmap, ensuring student ambition matches real world marketplace needs. With this major, sector wide focus on supercharging UK innovation and attracting global investment launching today, the role of universities as economic engines has never been more critical. It is an area where UEL, alongside the wider London Higher network, is really leading the field in terms of active employer engagement. #TeamUEL #CorporatePartnerships #FutureOfWork #UKInnovation #StudentEnterprise #HigherEducation #LondonHigher #UUK #UniversitiesUK
