How can photography help biodiversity research? 🌿 UC researchers Dr Pieter Pelser and Dr Julie F. Barcelona are working with Forester Guiller Opiso from the Philippine Eagle Foundation to document plant life in Philippine forests. These forests are home to the Philippine Eagle, and understanding what grows there is an important part of protecting the wider ecosystem. During fieldwork in 2025 and 2026, the team took more than 27,500 photos of around 1,800 species, adding valuable new images and records to Co’s Digital Flora of the Philippines, an online resource documenting the country’s plant life. This project is making biodiversity knowledge easier to access and helping support local conservation efforts🌱 UC Science #UCResearch #UCSustainability
