An exciting sight on campus! - Takurua, our new student facility, is coming to life 🏫👏🏋️ After several months of critical infrastructure and foundation work, the physical structure of Takurua is beginning to emerge above ground. Set to replace the current UC Recreation Centre, the purpose-built facility is expected to open later next year. It will provide a range of amenities designed to enhance student wellbeing, sport and recreation. This includes:  🏟️ Two indoor sports courts     🚴 A main gym, women’s gym, and spin room     🧘 Multi-purpose rooms for group fitness, and mind and body    🧗 Dedicated bouldering wall    🌱 Health and wellbeing services    🤸 Student social spaces, including rest and recovery zones    🏀 Outdoor plaza, including basketball court and sprint track   🔦 Floodlit outdoor artificial pitch  Construction is currently focused on the central core of the building, which will house the group fitness studio, spin room, changing rooms, recovery areas and reception. When complete, Takurua will be nearly twice the size of the current UC Recreation Centre.  #UCPeople #RecreationCentre
