A first-generation college graduate from the Central Valley, Eduardo Savala Alvarez commuted from Modesto throughout college and earned a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering. Before graduating, he received three job offers, with an average starting salary of $92,000 and an average signing bonus of $4,300.
