🌍 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗱𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘀 In November 2026, Gabriella Guinlle will defend her PhD thesis on how the energy transition in Europe is being shaped and contested, with a particular focus on hydrogen. Her supervisors are Prof.dr. Ans Kolk and Arno Kourula at the Amsterdam Business School. Hydrogen became one of the central bets in European industrial and climate policy during the years of her research. Gabriella studied how different actors frame what counts as clean or transition-relevant, what happens when supply-chain choices are not made explicit and key terms remain ambiguous, and how these gaps are filled by actors already embedded in existing systems. She also analysed citizen initiatives challenging the incumbent energy system, where access to participation still depends on property, capital and social position. A key insight from her work is that businesses do not play a single role, nor do they act as a single entity. Even within the same type of actor, there is contestation. Her chapters trace these dynamics across corporate documents, EU policy and local energy initiatives, capturing live political and industrial battles as they unfolded. ➡️Read the full interview: https://edu.nl/a7vxu
