A University of Alberta team has developed a first-of-its-kind cardio-oncology drug that protects the heart from chemotherapy damage while improving cancer treatment effectiveness. Shown to work safely in mice and human cells, the drug targets the protein ZNF281 to reduce tumour growth and prevent cancer spread.
