UAF Vice Chancellor Highlights Key Higher Education Priorities at Punjab Pre-Budget Conference The Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, participated in the Pre-Budget Consultative Session / Roundtable Conference for FY 2026-27 chaired by Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman. During the conference, the Vice Chancellor University of Agriculture, Faisalabad highlighted the critical challenges being faced by public sector universities, particularly the issue of inadequate financial support and the worsening student-teacher ratio, which is adversely affecting the quality of higher education and research. He emphasized that universities play a pivotal role in producing the skilled human capital required for sustaining economic growth, technological advancement, and quality public services. Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali urged the Government of Punjab to enhance budgetary allocations for universities, establish dedicated endowment funds to ensure long-term financial sustainability, and expand the scope of the Chief Minister’s Honhaar Scholarship Programme to benefit a larger number of deserving students. The Vice Chancellor also underscored the importance of promoting circular economy initiatives through waste-to-value projects and soil health improvement programs. He informed the participants that UAF is actively working on renewable energy, biogas production, and organic fertilizer initiatives and sought government support for establishing a model Waste-to-Value facility.
