Strengthening poultry health for food security and economic resilience 🐔🌾 The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad hosted the International Symposium on Poultry Health Challenges in collaboration with the World Veterinary Poultry Association, bringing together experts from academia, industry, and the farming community to address critical challenges facing the sector. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali highlighted that poultry has emerged as Pakistan’s second largest industry after textiles, playing a vital role in meeting nutritional needs. He emphasized the urgency of tackling disease-related losses through collaborative efforts and advancing the “One Health” approach to safeguard both animal and public health. He also pointed towards the potential of tapping into regional and global halal markets to enhance exports. Dr. Sajjad Hussain stressed the importance of robust disease surveillance systems, while WVPA President Hanif Nazir noted Pakistan’s influenza-free status as a key advantage for global trade. dr muhammad kashif saleemi emphasized controlling antimicrobial resistance and ensuring poultry health from hatchery to consumption.
