The biggest questions deserve the longest view. When UCL's Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit opened its doors in 1998, it was doing something very few others were – bringing together theoretical neuroscience and machine learning under one roof. It was an extraordinarily innovative idea at the time, and one that has since helped shape thinking across both neuroscience and artificial intelligence. Over the years, the unit has pioneered research into the mathematical principles behind how brains and machines learn, perceive and act. Its alumni carry that work forward across the world – more than 40% in successful academic careers, and close to 30% continuing research at companies including Google DeepMind, Meta and Anthropic. 🎥 In this film, key figures from the unit reflect on what lies behind that record and the founding vision that saw neuroscience and computation as inseparable. This is what happens at UCL. Learn more 👉 https://lnkd.in/eCbbq6Db
