💙💛 President Catherine Connolly hosted a reception at Áras an Uachtaráin for students from Gaza who have come to study at University College Dublin and other universities in Ireland. In August and September 2025, Irish Universities welcomed over 70 students from Gaza to their institutions, all of whom were part of an evacuation supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ireland. "Yes, I'm studying and living my life, but at the same time it feels like a dream. You feel like you have two different lives," said Dima RH Shamaly, an Electronic Engineering student at the UCD College of Engineering & Architecture, speaking to RTE News.
