👨‍🎓🏟️ From Belfield to Boston: Best of luck to alum and Boston Stadium Pitch Manager, Greg Whately, ahead of tonight's FIFA World Cup clash between Scotland and Morocco. A graduate of UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science with a degree in Horticulture, Landscape and Sports Turf Management programme, Greg is responsible for the playing surface at one of the tournament's host venues. 🗣️ "This is the pinnacle for any player. We're giving them the stage to perform so we have to give them the proper stage. A lot of planning and a lot of research has gone into this over the last five, six, seven, eight years. The pressure is there, but we're fully confident that we are going to have the answers that we need." A Senior Technical Consultant with STRI Group, Greg is part of the team delivering world-class pitches for the FIFA World Cup 2026 through the Elite Pitch Alliance. When he's not working at World Cups and other top sporting venues worldwide, Greg stays connected to the university by returning annually to give a lecture and share his expertise with students.
