The research includes the participation of the Instituto de InvestigaciΓ³n en Cambio Global de la URJC from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, highlighting strong international collaboration. By tracking ~70,000 genetically diverse plants across 30 climates worldwide over five years, researchers showed how natural selection can quickly favor traits linked to survival and reproduction. But there is a critical limit. Under extreme heat, adaptation breaks down, genetic responses become chaotic, and entire populations can collapse. The findings highlight both the powerβ€”and fragilityβ€”of evolution in a warming world, with major implications for biodiversity conservation and climate resilience strategies. https://lnkd.in/d8t2WFqa #URJC #study #plants #climatechange #YoSoyURJC
