𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐚𝐤 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭   A study conducted by researchers at the Instituto de Investigación en Cambio Global de la URJC has revealed that oak trees can act as mediators that balance competition between plants, preventing stronger species from harming or outcompeting weaker ones.   To reach these conclusions, the team combined experiments and computer simulations, finding that oaks change the soil beneath them. This change has a double effect: it reduces the germination of the dominant rockrose and boosts the growth of the weaker rockrose , creating the necessary balance for both species to coexist in the long run.    🔗 https://lnkd.in/dDKkYdeX #URJC #study #YoSoyURJC
