Liam is the kind of kid who lights up a room — bright, curious and always ready to connect. But living with a rare genetic condition hasn't always made belonging easy. Through programs at Between Friends. supported by United Way's Community Impact Fund, Liam found friendship, laughter and a place where he truly belongs. For his mom, Joanne, it meant peace of mind and support for their entire family. The impact extends beyond one family. Last year alone, over 160,000 Calgarians were connected to programs and initiatives that supported belonging in their communities. "It just helped in so many ways." July is National Disability Pride Month, a time to celebrate the strength, resilience and diversity of people with disabilities while recognizing the importance of creating a truly inclusive community where everyone feels they belong.
