Double success for University of York research! 🎉 Two of our leading academics have been awarded the highly competitive European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant, a premier funding scheme reserved for established global leaders pursuing high-risk, high-reward frontier research. Professor Thomas Krauss, from the Department of Physics, Engineering and Technology, is pioneering the future of autonomous diagnostics with his project, TOUCHLESS. His team is using UV nanophotonics to create a completely "touchless" technology that will revolutionise critical tasks like tracking drinking water quality and identifying infectious bacteria. Professor Teresa da Silva Lopes, from the School for Business and Society, will be leading a major study to reshape our understanding of global capitalism. Her project, RISK-LABS, spans four continents and seven centuries, tracing how global firms have acted as experimental "risk laboratories" throughout history. Congratulations to both Professor Krauss and Professor da Silva Lopes! Learn more about TOUCHLESS: https://lnkd.in/eu_nQD9u Learn more about RISK-LABS: https://lnkd.in/eXYMjRMq
