"The UNESCO Qualifications Passport is a valuable document for us refugees. It serves as proof of what we studied and where we worked, and it facilitates looking for a job." These are Faida's words. When conflict forced her to leave her home in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Faida had to rebuild her life in a refugee settlement in Uganda. There, she learned about the UNESCO Qualifications Passport and received hers in 2024. For Faida, the passport has been more than a document. It has helped her reconnect with her education, professional experience and future aspirations. Through the UNESCO Qualifications Passport, refugees and displaced people can have their qualifications assessed and recognised, even when official documents are missing or incomplete. Implemented with UNHCR and national recognition authorities, and supported by Norway, the initiative helps open pathways to further education and employment by turning skills and experience into opportunities. To date, nearly 200 UNESCO Qualifications Passports have been issued. On #WorldRefugeeDay, #UNESCO highlights Faida's story and the stories of others whose qualifications are helping them build new futures. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ee_ktyES
