Literacy is more than a skill. It is a foundation for people to acquire broader knowledge, skills and values, foster a culture of lasting peace and build harmonious relationships with oneself, others and the planet. To contribute to this effort, the call for nominations for the 2026 UNESCO International #Literacy Prizes is now open, recognizing outstanding initiatives that promote literacy worldwide. Since 1967, the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes have rewarded more than 500 projects and programmes undertaken by governments, non-governmental organizations and individuals.
