Generative #AI is no longer a future issue. It is a present responsibility. Behind every prompt lies infrastructure: electricity consumption, water used for cooling, and expanding data centres whose environmental footprint must be acknowledged. The development of #ArtificialIntelligence systems is therefore not only a technological question, but also a matter of sustainability. Partnering with UCL, UNESCO is advancing research on lightweight, resource-efficient AI models that can deliver high performance while reducing energy use and broadening access.
