Indigenous Peoples manage 25% of the Earth’s land, care for its remaining intact forests, and hold generations of knowledge about how to live in balance with nature. Yet, they are still too often excluded from climate decision-making — and receive less than 1% of climate finance. Through the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), Indigenous leaders continue to push for recognition, inclusion and rights-based climate action. Their message is clear: there’s no climate justice without Indigenous rights. As the 25th session of #UNPFII gets underway today through 1 May, learn how Indigenous knowledge strengthens climate action: https://go.undp.org/4m3 #WeAreIndigenous
